About Nica HOPE
Nica HOPE is a new project that seeks to provide education and vocational training to impoverished communities in Nicaragua. Current programs focus on the Managua City trash dump community of La Chureca, where hundreds live off the piles of waste of the capital city. Nica HOPE is operating in partnership with The Fabretto Children's Foundation to provide increased education and job training and placement opportunities for youth and adults from the communities that currently depend on the trash for income and survival.
Education and
vocational training will improve
opportunities for employment and income-generation for these
communities, while increased coordination and networking will allow
better access to existing opportunities. Nica HOPE is also working to integrate instruction in critical
thinking, creativity, and hands-on problem solving with an integral
focus on values and character-building to help develop students into
effective, well-rounded citizens, workers, individuals. Nica HOPE aims to
leverage available resources in financial, human, and social capital in
order to provide opportunities for these communities to improve their
own lives through socioeconomic advancement. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
